Wolseley of UK buys Clayton materials for $110M in cash

LONDON, April 18 (Reuters) - Britain's Wolseley Plc, the
world's biggest distributor of plumbing and heating equipment,
said on Thursday it had bought U.S. supplier of waterworks
materials Clayton Acquisition for $110 million in cash.

Wolseley said the deal would complement its Ferguson
business in the United States, which focuses on supplying
plumbing and heating equipment to utilities.

Florida-based Clayton is the fourth-largest wholesale
distributor of waterworks, wastewater and storm-drainage
materials in the United States, with sales of $226 million in the
year ended August 31, 2001.
