$14M contract for MountainStar Resort

CLE ELUM, Kittitas County -- MountainStar Resort Development recently
awarded a $14 million contract to USFilter Operating Services to design,
build and start up a 3.6 million-gallon-per-day regional wastewater
treatment plant in Cle Elum.
The new plant will support MountainStar,
a 6,000-acre resort, and the communities of Cle Elum, South Cle Elum and
It will take USFilter two years to build
the plant. During that time, the company will provide interim operations
and management of the city's existing 1.5 million-gallon-per-day plant.
After the project is finished, USFilter will transition operations and
management of the new and the existing plants to the city and its
operator of choice.
Design and construction of the plant
began in October 2003, and startup and testing are anticipated for
October 2005. Parametrix is the design engineer and RCI Construction
Group is performing most of the construction. Both are based in Sumner.
MountainStar is a joint venture
partnership between Jeld-Wen of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Los Angeles,
Calif.-based Lowe Enterprises.
